The department stated that the move would help combat the withdrawal of money obtained through criminal sources</p><p><br /></p><p>This means that P2P transfers in Belarus are no longer legal and crypto transfers can only be done through official exchanges. The Ministry of Internal Affairs of Belarus made an official announcement on the page on the VKontakte social network.</p><p><br /></p><p>Since the beginning of this year, a law enforcement unit dedicated to combating cybercrime has taken action against 27 individuals involved in offering illegal services for cryptocurrency exchanges. This individual earned almost 22 million rubles through illegal activities.</p><p><br /></p><p><br /></p><p>Such services are popular among criminals who want to exchange and withdraw stolen money or transfer money to other criminals involved in illegal activities.</p><p><br /></p><p>“The Ministry of Interior is working on a legislative innovation that prohibits transactions for the exchange of cryptocurrencies between individuals. For transparency and control, the people will be allowed to carry out such financial transactions only through the exchange".</p><p><br /></p><p>Belarus has been one of the early players in the crypto market welcoming the use of digital assets. So far it has enacted several crypto-friendly laws to support the country's crypto landscape.</p><p><br /></p><p>Earlier this year, the Belarusian government extended tax exemptions for businesses working in crypto. The government said that this exemption will remain in place until January 2025.</p>
